Has anyone in Chile seen this movie? How is it? I just caught wind of it and am really really curious. I read a review in El Mercurio and it sounds like a really interesting poignant movie about life in Santiago in general. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you've seen it.
Also, this song:
Is sooooo good. I haven't heard something like this come out of Chilean music in a while. That is, except random talented acoustic singers on La micro....

I havnt seen this. I heard it was good, but very depressing.
This movie was amazing, I really loved it. Softly, quietly, it showed a million sides of life in Chile (albeit downsides).
The artist in the song is from Valparaiso, he is known and loved here. When it came on over the credits, everone was whispering his name, it was pretty incredible.
I can't spell it right (his name), being a visual person. I'll send my friend here to let you know, he's good friends with him.
OK, I guess my friend couldn't post without a blogger account. But, the name of the artist is Chinoy.
Thanks, Meredith. We had figured out that it was Chinoy. I'm so glad to hear from someone who has seen this movie! I'm glad you liked it. I'm going to have to make my suegra send us a copy when it comes onto DVD cause these movies never seen to make it to the US. So funny cause the girl who cuts my hair here in Austin says that Machuca is one of her favorite movies (never been to Chile, saw it in Spain). So I'm so excited to tell her that Andres Wood has come out with another!
Hi
I have seeen this wonderful movie last night during the 7th Discovering Latin America Film Festival in London. The movie opened the 10 days festival. I really loved it. It was the first time ever that I watch a movie from Chile and Santiago seems to be a nice city...Next holiday trip???
Best regards
Fanny
Amanda,
This is the first time I'm visiting your blog, and I want to explore it.
As for the Chilean film La Buena Vida, I've seen it. It is quite a film. Slightly contrived? Yes. But it is powerful, and it is compassionate. I loved it.
