I'm a practical person. It is nearly impossible for two people to live on only $25/week in food. You can do this if you're invited to a bunch of catered events (as I previously mentioned) but otherwise it's pretty darn miserable.
We revised our plan. I didn't do any insane calculations and just tried to be smart about our menu this week. Red Lentils Sunday and monday. Tacos on Tuesday and Wednesday (there was a sale going on at our grocery store). Black bean soup on Thursday and Friday and Tortellini Vegetable Puree. Additionally, we got some pasta to make with a Bechamel sauce. I realized that I planned much more than one week of eating along with hummus, homemade bread, a large but cheaper block of uncut or shredded cheese and even quite a bit of fruit all for $59.00. I even got ingredients to make my own granola! Complete with hazelnuts and dried cranberries!
We NEVER spend under $65 on weekly groceries. And we're not even close to starving. So despite not being able to meet the goal of $25.00 for two people in a week, I realized that most of the "challenges" online mention eating for a week on $25.00 per person. So we're actually quite close to that.
We're forging ahead to see how we can do in a month! Thanks for the encouragement you've sent me not to give up. :)
